Nepal is one of the under-developing country in the world, still many people died because of not getting instant medical facilities even for minor cases, to get proper treatment in emergency case, people of remote areas they have to call helicopter rescue because land transportation is not available everywhere which is beyond their imagination.
Our aim is to run mobile medical camp to help local people of remote region to get primary medical treatment at their own comport. We have conducted First Aid service in Damar village and the school at Dhikure.
4 Health Post in the rural village in Okahaldhunga
The rural village of Okhaldhunga has 4 health posts running. In the initiative of Ngima Sherpa, a tourism businessman from Damar, the four health posts in Damar Village and Chhermading has been providing health facilities to the local.
Before 5 years, people in the rural village of Siddhicharan Municipality-6 Jantarkhani were deprived of the basic healthcare facility. People had to walk for three hours to reach the only health post in the municipality. Due to the lack of healthcare facilities, people used to visit with doctors and relied on natural herbs. Many people used to face an untimely death and many pregnant women used to face problems during childbirth.
The misfortune of people in the village of Ngima Sherpa made him very sad. When he came to know that people had to charter helicopters to get the city to get the basic health checkup it made him think about what can be done to solve this problem. He then started searching for help in Italy where he lives now.
He then found Casa Alessia, an organization in Italy that worked for children welfare and from New Zealand to get help with the project. The two organization were interested in Ngima’s dream to build healthcare in the village. With the help of the organization, 5 years ago, he built a health post with checkup and medicine facilities. On the day of the opening of the health post, an incident took place. Dali Sherpa, sister of Nigma Sherpa was pregnant and died due to high blood pressure on the way back home the same day.
New Health Post in the name of Dali
After the incident, Ngima wanted to do something for the village in the health sector. He planned to construct health post in the name of his sister, Dali Sherpa Memorial Healthcare Service in his village Damar along with health post in Chhermading, Patle, and Dorkharka. With his initiative, a health post with a total cost of 20 Lakh rupees has been successfully constructed and running in Damar. The center has two certified health assistants AAHEBA and ANAMI providing their service to the locals.
The construction process in Chhermading has now undergone. Pregnant ladies and people used to face a lot of health problems and would not be able to get medicines even if they were willing to pay a huge amount, whereas now they are getting better health facilities at a low price.
The health post has been built in the initiative of Okhaldhunga Nine Hill Association with the help of Casa Alessia. Medicine and Manpower for the project have been provided. People from Bakhre, Nalidada, Majhkharka, Ghattekhola, Surke, and near villages are now able to get better healthcare and medicine facilities from health post constructed in Damar Village.
According to ANAMI Tukuni Sherpa, around a dozen of people come for check-up regularly out of which majority are pregnant women. The health post has been providing service to all the people who can be examined there whereas some of the major case is referred to the community hospital in Rumjatar as well as to the hospitals in the capital.
A place neglected by the government and deprived by the basic healthcare facility is now been able to get better facility as said by Mr. Kunga Sherpa chairman of Steering Committee. The under-construction health posts in Chhermading is completed with the help of dots&loops and start providing health facilities. Nigma has been actively working in the social welfare of the village. With the help of other organization, he plans to contribute to healthcare as well other sectors in the village. In his initiative, he has provided solar panels, educational materials, drinking water project, school construction project and many more in Damar Village.
The following Health Assistants are working at DALI SHERPA MEMORIAL HEALTH CARE SERVICE in Okhaldhunga district to provide health-related services in Damar, Chermading, Bakhre and Nalidada village.
