Distributed sanitary pad with stationary and bags to the students 2019
Okhaldhuga (Sherpakhabar.com), ‘Sanitary pads’ with bags, T-shirt and stationary material has been distributed to the students of shivalaya Secondary chhermading school of khijibemba-9, patle. The founder president of “Okhaldhunga nine hill association” Mr. Ngima sherpa had distributed the materials with the help of foreigners of different countries. According to the present president of the association, Ngawa pemba Sherpa, more than 110 students got bags, stationery, and T-shirt in the event organized at the school. Ang phurlu Sherpa, a member of the school management committee, informed about the distribution of sanitary pads to 110 local women including school girls.
During the menstruation, mostly the girl students skip the school because they are unable to deal with it. The monthly cycle affects the study of girl students. Teachers Phuli Sherpa said; the sanitary pad is unavailable to buy as there is no place.
The reusable ‘Sanitary pad’ was manufactured in Canada. Jillian Crocer, the campaigner did report about the designed to be used for up to 3 years and had no effect on health and the environment. She said; the pad was specially designed to distribute in the remote areas of Nepal. This pad seems beneficial in the area like patle where people can’t buy pad easily. In remote areas, people neglect monthly menstrual cycle which drags them into serious health problems. This campaign was launched to spread awareness among the women that reusable ‘pads’ can be more protective and safe during the menstruation cycle. Casa Alessia, Halie and dots loops contributed to the stuff of the children. The donor are from Italy, Canada, Austria, France, and Holland.
At the program, leader Ngima Sherpa said, his aims is to improve education and health conditions in the rural areas. He added ‘We didn’t get a chance to go school, even didn’t get a chance to recognize the alphabets. So we are suffering a lot. However, the descendants of the present should not be so, we have been helping the school so that the new generation doesn’t need to go through the same situation.
He also expressed his commitment to support the school yearly. In the program, ward member Pema rinjee Sherpa emphasized that all parties should co-operate positively as there is only one secondary school in the ward. “The local government is determined to assist in ensuring the all aspects of the school need to be improved in a planned manner”. He added the program was chaired by Ang Gyalu Sherpa president of the teacher-parent association. A member of the school management committee, Ngang chemba Sherpa inform about the cultural performance, presentation and Sherpa cultural dance presented in the program.
